THIS College was founded in 1314 by Walter de Stapeldon, Bishop of Exeter. The foundation was enlarged by Sir William Petre under charter granted by Queen Elizabeth in 1565.
Through the generosity of many benefactors the College is able to award many scholarships, exhibitions, travel grants, and prizes. Full details of these may be had from the Rector.
The corporate designation of the College is 'The Rector and Scholars of Exeter College in the University of Oxford'.
