Dear Andrew,

Making Names

Thank you very much for your letter of 30 May, and for the completed Author's Publicity Form. Don't worry about the delay in revising the book: it's much more important that you get it right than that we should publish it a month or two earlier. It's not as if it's tied into a centenary, after all!

I have discussed the title/subtitle issue with Alan Ryan. We agree in not going for your tentatively suggested subtitle, and also in feeling that, unless someone has a brilliant idea, it may be best to stick to Making Names, and let the cover illustration and blurb do whatever extra work needs to be done. So let's think in those terms for the time being, if that's OK by you. There's no hurry, anyway. The title doesn't have to be fixed until quite late on.

Yours,

Henry Hardy
